Georgas renders the storied citadel of Monemvasia with reverent precision: sun-warmed limestone, hand-laid terracotta roofs, and the iconic domes set against an endless Peloponnesian horizon. Egg tempera—his signature medium—delivers a tactile, jewel-toned surface where every plane of light seems to breathe. The result is both archaeological and modern: a serene, investment-grade statement work for refined interiors in Athens, London, New York, Dubai, or Sydney. Collector highlights • Museum-calibre egg tempera with exceptional lightfastness and archival stability • Monumental horizontal format (75 × 110 cm) for commanding placement • Original frame; ready to install in luxury residential or hospitality projects • Ideal for collections focused on Greek heritage, Byzantine technique, Mediterranean landscape, or contemporary realism Enquire & Services Price & availability: On request Private viewing (Athens / virtual): By appointment International shipping & insurance: Fully managed by Tsantilis Gallery ________________________________________ About the Artist — Michalis Georgas (b. 1947) Born on the island of Symi in 1947 and self-taught, Michalis Georgas developed a language rooted in ancient Greek and Byzantine art, which he translates into luminous, hyper-crafted landscapes and cityscapes via egg tempera. His practice spans archaeological sites, rural vistas, and urban scenes, often balancing realism with contemplative symbolism. He held his first solo exhibition in Athens in 1969 and has exhibited in Greece and abroad. Market note (selected): Georgas’s egg-tempera works appear at international auction houses; notable entries include Rue du Pirée – Akti Miaouli at Bonhams (tempera on canvas laid on board, ~75 × 122 cm) and a historical record pricereported at USD 22,316 for Island view (Bonhams, 2009). These results evidence sustained demand for large-format tempera works by the artist.
